Soy Candle Independence is an initiative which aims to empower at home mothers from culturally diverse backgrounds with the necessary financial skills to developa deeper understanding of their finances. In addition, it provides both a theoretical and hand on approach to the understanding of the workings of a small business.
SIFE Monash will achieve this via two phases, the development of a small business and the implementation of workshops. In phase one, SIFE Monash is assisting a business owner of a small candle making business, Inspired with Love, in developing her business to reach a competitive advantage by increasing the business's efficieny and productivity. In return, inspired with love will become involved as both a facilitator of phase two of the program, Soy Candle Independence workshops, and as a case of study of a successfully developed business idea.
Soy Candle Independence workshops are a six week program whereby participants will attain knowledge about daily financial skills to assist them in management of household finances. Additionally, workshops funded by and held in affiliation with Inspired with Love will provide participants with hands on experience of creating a candle and marketing it as a finalised product. |
